AAAI-27 Workshop

SPF-LLM

Security & Privacy Foundations
for Large Language Models

A full-day workshop bringing together NLP researchers, security and privacy researchers, and production practitioners to advance the science of building LLMs that are safe, private, and robust — from training-time risks to agentic deployment attacks and defenses.

Conference AAAI-27
Date Feb 22–23, 2027
Location Montréal, Canada
Format In-Person

Why SPF-LLM?

Language models are rapidly becoming autonomous agents — orchestrating APIs, calling tools, executing multi-step plans, and collaborating with other models. This shift fundamentally changes their risk profile. Threats now span reasoning chains, tool interfaces, retrieval-augmented pipelines, and inter-agent communication, creating layered attack and privacy surfaces that no existing defense addresses comprehensively.

SPF-LLM creates a dedicated venue connecting three under-integrated communities: NLP/LLM researchers, security and privacy researchers, and production practitioners. We examine how model architecture, training, context handling, tool use, and multi-agent coordination create novel vulnerabilities — and how rigorous empirical and theoretical methods from NLP and security can close these gaps.

🎯

Attacks & Threat Models

Indirect prompt injection against RAG and tool-augmented LLMs; multi-agent jailbreaking; privilege escalation via tool misuse; encoding-based attacks.

🔒

Privacy in LLM Workflows

Contextual integrity in agentic systems; membership inference; differential privacy and federated learning in LLM pipelines; AI supply chain integrity.

🛡️

Defenses & Alignment

Runtime monitoring of LLM reasoning and tool calls; alignment filtering resilient to multi-turn attacks; secure-by-design agentic architectures; formal verification.

📊

Evaluation & Benchmarking

Red-teaming methodologies for agentic LLMs; benchmarks for jailbreaking, tool misuse, and privacy leakage; interpretability and auditing tools.

🤖

Agentic & Multi-Agent Security

Safety risks in agentic pipelines, tool-use hijacking, orchestration vulnerabilities, goal subversion, and multi-agent trust.

📋

Governance & Responsible Deployment

Accountability frameworks; human oversight in agentic pipelines; legal and ethical considerations; responsible disclosure for LLM systems.

Important Dates

All deadlines are per the official AAAI-27 workshop calendar and are Anywhere on Earth (UTC-12). Dates subject to change — check back for updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I submit my manuscript? Can I submit outside of OpenReview?

All submissions must go through our OpenReview venue page. We cannot accept submissions via email, direct upload, or any alternative route under any circumstances.

What should I do if my OpenReview profile activation is delayed?

Profile verification is managed by OpenReview, not by us. New profiles or those using personal email addresses can take several days for manual moderation. Create and verify your OpenReview profile at least 2 weeks before the submission deadline. If you need a vouch, ask a co-author, supervisor, or colleague with an active institutional account — workshop organizers cannot vouch for authors due to COI regulations.

Can I get a deadline extension if my profile is still pending activation?

No. Organizers cannot grant individual extensions, open late submission windows, or bypass OpenReview verification. Submissions must be fully completed before the deadline (AoE).

Are appendices allowed, and do they count toward the page limit?

Yes, appendices are allowed. The page limit applies strictly to the main text body — references and appendices do not count and have no hard page cap. Reviewers are not obligated to read the appendix, so your main paper should be self-contained.

Can I present or participate on a panel remotely?

No. All keynote talks, panel discussions, and poster sessions are in person in Montréal. Remote presentation is not available.
